(Free, open source, MAC, PC, Unix) If you use power- it's awesome auto calc of your CP critical power. If you use HR it's the best I know. Here is why.

In Golden Cheetah "TRIMP is Training in Pulse", It gives you performance management results over time with out a power meter (Most Cyclists). Here is the skinny what to do to set up you GC and review your progress.
Trimp. is set in athlete settings http://bugs.goldencheetah.org/projects/goldencheetah/wiki/Athlete
Performance manager is where you look at your trends.
metrics http://bugs.goldencheetah.org/projects/goldencheetah/wiki/Performance_Manager_(PM)http://bugs.goldencheetah.org/projects/goldencheetah/wiki/The_Metrics_tab_in_Golden_Cheetah_20_HOWTO

Once set the performance manager tab will give you trends that match your Power meter owing friends with out the extra weight or god awfully mess of "what does all that mean."

Trimp is for most cyclists a great way to gauge results and gain understanding of what they are achieving over time. Your perception is likely accurate. "I feel stronger", "I'm getting Faster". (or not if you are not focused on the best type of training for your personal need you may be just making your self tired. but not improving.

Here is a screen shot of HR and speed. As a cyclists improves fitness HR trails down or speed moves up. ( If you're training properly in a Zone 2/3 sweet spot mode.)

You should do it Here. Priority TeamLG events are *A* listed for the year. To keep the list fresh We have about 60 days of races listed plus all *A* races.

Now you are able to start "filtering" to see who's racing. Take a look, You can see all entries or filter any way you want.
To filter: use the drop down list in the first row. As you filter, By name, Cat, Name & Cat, Any and/or none - the listing becomes more focused.
To keep past races off the listing - choose- "blank"
Searching - Interested in what happen last year or history on a subject- Try searching the email archive on a group. It pays to look at the big VCLG Yahoo group as it has years of history! These team lists are over a year old, but soon your mail is history too. With your insight, it creats good history - we each create a great furtre. Try searching the blog too - we are testing our own custom search tool -it has an interesting bent that it is "LG cycling centric" and stacks searches from sites we may want results from first.
Tent, Common Property -
ROMA Body Shop Svc
1511 S Barrington Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90025
310-477-1209
The tent should be brought back to this location with in a couple (2) days. If you are not returning the tent to the shop yourself, you should make sure to have a contact and communicate on (race day) about the transfer of ownership. The guy who picks it up the tent is responsible to return it unless a team-mate takes ownership and responsiblities.

Most of the 4/5 races are early, and the 3's are later. So generally we need to establish communication if a 4 or 5 picks it up, and a 3 agrees to return the tent at the end of the race day.
No leaving it without anyone around. (one tent was lost couple years back)

Road Race Supplies- Water Bottles, Water cooler, Feed Zone:Rant I'm going out on a limb here. We all need road race support, and I'd suggest we are all better for the group supporting the group - as long as we agree to help one another. I'll present the following:
Make sure the guys in the feed aren't "buying you lunch."
Electrolytes aren't free. Ice and bottled water is paid for generally, not donated, and the feed zone folks are working for you. Individual bottle handlers are rarely an individual success in a busy feed (many of us remember busy zones -like Sisquoc, Bakersfield RR, SDSR, or Devil's Punchbowl) 4 feeders for 8-9 guys seem about right. Flat feeds need more folks; big climbs feeding spreads out.

At the End of the day- Make sure that the feeders are not out of pocket. Each road race we can pool resources or "go it alone" lets work the team angle here too. PS asking for a particular bottle with "Super Electrozip-aid" on a particular lap... is not likely to happen End Rant.

Water Bottle - "Bottles in Bottles out" Just like a dirty little wheel pit.
Feed zoneres are asked to fill and pass out bottles. We began the season with all new nice LG shiny bottles. after 6-8 feeds we have a selection of every bottle known to man.

Supplies: 5 gal water cooler, Electrolytes, Water, Ice, Bottles, small cardboard box for bottle staging, Table, Chair, Tent (maybe), Trash Bags - you will want a trash bag - trust me no one wants dirty bottles rolling around the car on the way home.

The drill: Fill the Water cooler with ice $3.00, add water when you're in the feed zone. $10.00 (don't spill 5 gallons in the car)

The Feed: In the feed, fill bottles, Electrolytes, Water - Fill the, box with bottles for a multi-person feed.

Clean up and restock: At the end or as you go, collect bottles; many bottles we will know are obviously LG bottles; from the teamLG racers etc. Remove left over contents, close the lids, and trash bag um' for a dishwasher wash- with a cap full of liquid bleach. (bleach kills everything dead)

Post dishwasher Dry bottles storage upside down in a clean box. all caps in a ziplock bag w/holes for air out. Ready for the next feed.

Long term (between RR Storage) -?- Usually the feeders place or Mario's Auto Body.

The team tent is a fixture that LG has provided the race team. It should be used often as it promotes a center point and supports our racers & sponsors- we all have access- Here is the scoop. We have one Team 3/4/5 tent, it is available at Mario Seri's shop. Mario is LG's 2009 60+ California State champion. Bear! (and not his first bear either, he'll chat your ear off and you may like it. Nice, nice guy! )

The tent is available for pick up 9-5 weekdays. Most Saturdays until noon (call to be sure on Saturday) I've been bummed more than once by not calling. Mario Serimarc66thomashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01040648467381401526noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6006127192809788066.post-7494742806995374182010-01-20T10:54:00.000-08:002010-01-21T11:59:45.844-08:00Club / Team License info.
A good article on setting up a plan for 2010.

If you use a computer for tracking -add a Google calendar for you build cycle an rest weeks, or get a training peaks account $$, or as the article says, use Pencil and Paper and follow the plan.
Do you have a power meter or HR monitor.
That is all part of the Simi experience. The goal is to progress until you DON'T get dropped. This ride is like a race and is great training.
Jaycee Cary has taken the mantle of team ride leader but that doesn't mean your opinion, or your ride, is not welcomed. It is. Jaycee needs/want to get us out to new areas, and we all want to learn great new routes.

Suggest your route to Jaycee, to get it on the calendar for an up coming team event date. Let's agree to make it a "Map my ride" or "Google Map" attachment and your commentary for when it's appropriate.

My Favourite off season route was the 5 counties ride hosted by LA Wheelmen. super nice near zero traffic and just as many services (bring food water and electrolytes) if you do it unsupported. http://lawheelmen.org/schedule.htm
Take the Golden State Freeway (I-5) north to the Frazier Park Exit (1st exit after passing Gorman). At the bottom of the ramp, turn left and go 6.4 miles and turn right into the church parking lot. Just add food and gas, and it’s the cheapest weekend you can do in Solvang, and way nicer than staying in a motel!

Details about the camp:

There are a lot of killer scenic routes for us to do, and it will not be an all-out hammer-fest. The idea is for us to have some time away from the usual routes we all ride, get to know each other a little better, and talk about what we want to get out of racing next year, both individually and as a team. And most importantly, have a great time on the bikes in beautiful surroundings.

The revised structure of the weekend will now be to arrive anytime on Friday for those that can come up. We can have a meal at the house to accommodate the fact that people may be arriving at varying times. Those arriving first will have dibs on the beds and sofas in the house. I will be able to bring two aero mattresses and sleeping bags and I would encourage anyone else to do the same.

Saturday morning we will get started reasonably early but late enough so that anyone driving up Saturday morning can get there in time to have a moment to get situated before we head out for our main ride, the world famous Figueroa Mountain. This is the same ride that the pro teams do in their camps. It has a lot of climbing but remember, we’ll be riding as a complete team and no one will be left on their own at any time. We would finish later in the afternoon and head to our accommodations to relax before regrouping for a killer team dinner in town.

On Sunday we would do a more chill route through the beautiful rolling countryside around Solvang. Then lunch and caravan back to LA.

Details about the house:

I’ve reserved an absolutely beautiful new ranch house in the hills above town (off of Ballard Canyon Road). I’m including pics below of the actual house. It has a pool, jacuzzi, huge kitchen with Viking appliances, two fireplaces, bocce ball, foosball, and ping pong! It has five beds and tons of floor space to accommodate us all.

I am estimating about 15 of us coming to this camp, so I’d like to see if any of you who have expressed interest can pay for the lodging before the camp to help offset my expense in booking it. The house is $1,000 a night (down from $1100) plus $375 in taxes and cleaning fees. That divided by 15 is roughly $80 a night per person but I am willing to round it down a little to get as many people as possible to confirm. In the interest of keeping the costs down for everyone I do have to ask that everyone pay the same amount, regardless of how many nights they are staying in the house. I highly recommend coming up Friday night and waking up in Solvang!

***If you know you are coming, and can confirm with me now, please let me know. I can give you a PayPal account to make your payment to. I know we have a lot of excitement about it but I don’t want to be left high and dry with a giant house all to myself!

It’s going to be an amazing weekend of riding and planning the season ahead. Looking forward to kicking off a hugely successful season for Team LaGrange with this unique experience.

Hope you can make it!

Joe

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6006127192809788066.post-61972591412109785142009-10-12T14:59:00.000-07:002009-10-12T15:06:56.758-07:00Langone Wins and now leads SoCal Urban CX Series
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6006127192809788066.post-27768392750877806222009-09-21T19:32:00.001-07:002009-09-21T19:32:56.998-07:00series one dusty cross
