I feel bad that folks are having problems with Google Docs - (It's not just you) so I'm replying to the blog and you as a bit of help for anyone that needs a walk through or is new to the Google Docs tool. I hope this helps.

The short answer.
Log in to Google docs.- navigate to the sheet look for the list of races (Bottom tabs) <, or > to move left, right -and add your name.
Click "Save and close" when you're done.

The more complete answer.

First before you can edit anything in Google Docs you need to sign up for a google account. No you do not need to use Gmail or have Google take over everything. You just need to have a Google account and password.

Two ways to get into the files:
1. From the published sheets (Two Published files -April races, May Races)- you can click through and see what you need/want, but you need to log in to edit them.
You may have no problem navigating -so the trick is "How to login to edit" On the bottom right of the page in your Internet browser window, Scroll down and as far to the right as possible - there is a little text "edit this page" attached edit+this+page.jpg (image/jpeg) 5K It always brings you to the first sheet of the file, but not to the sheet you want, so navigate to the correct sheet using the arrows at the bottom next to the race names NAVIGATE.jpg (image/jpeg) 10K attached.
In my browser they are a set of stacked ">" & "<" signs to move to the left or right.

2. If your in the blog click on the Who's Racing? - Add yourself to the list link.

So your in .... This gives you a list of document that you can view and edit. (I have chosen to hide all the old files from my view) you can hide, sort.... by clicking the top of the column name "name" sorts by name. Here is what I'm seeing. G_docs_view.jpg (image/jpeg) 57K

Again the sheets are like Microsoft Excel and have a list of races on separate sheets by the month. Example -April races has G_docs_navigate_to_the_Sheet_You _Want.jpg (image/jpeg) 130K

Hope this helps, Please feel free to call me if this is giving you trouble
